NOTICE

Prospective buyers are advised to first obtain a copy of our comprehensive 'Stag Buyers Guide'. This is a 25 page uniquely detailed publication including checklists, points to look for (and avoid) and this is available to TSR members free, or to non-members at 25.00 including UK postage.

You are also advised to very carefully cross-check the provenance of any Stag you are considering, and if not completely happy to rely upon your own technical knowledge, to seek a detailed check from our retained inspection experts - this may cost in the region of 200 but is a recommended service in terms of travel time/cost and avoiding mistakes.

Indicated or stated mileage should not be trusted as the Stag odometer only runs to 99,999 miles and can easily be 'clocked'.  Use MoT certificates and historical bills to indicate miles travelled, but even these in the past have been subject to forgery.  In the extreme, only expert and detailed physical examination can give an indication of likely mileage.

In the UK, Citizens Advice Bureau and Trading Standards Offices can provide excellent leaflets guiding you in the legal checks to make when purchasing a car from private owners, kerbside traders and legitimate motor traders.  Always ask to see the registration document which must show the sellers name (legitimate trade seller possibly excepted) and check this thoroughly against the car.  Legitimate sellers should have nothing to hide!

If you believe any Stag shown below is not substantially as described, please contact the TSR club office immediately at [email protected].  We are relying only upon the sellers descriptions and take no legal responsibility for the accuracy of their content.

1974 RHD auto with original Stag V8 engine, believed to have approximately 97,000 miles only, present owner for 17 years.  Black with black interior.

Immediately prior to purchase the previous owner spent 4,000 on a Hart engine overhaul, bills to prove.  Current owner commenced a complete re-spray on purchase in 1988, chromed wire wheels with whitewall tyres, stainless exhaust, new carpets, re-chromed bright-work, 500 stereo, new soft top at a total cost of 12,000 - bills and photographic record.  Car has hardly been used since, and not used at all in last 3 years so there is no MoT at present.

Because the car has not been used recently it is in great need of remedial work and cosmetic detailing prior to being used again, but the owner says this is mainly elbow-grease.  At the moment it has a 'private' number plate which may be available at extra cost.

No pictures available.

The owner is looking for offers in excess of 4,500 and needs a quick sale.  Phone 07739 702 094, location Bexleyheath in Kent.

1974 RHD 3-speed automatic, Stag V8 finished in Porsche red (believed colour) and with light beige original interior.  Believed total mileage 84,000.  Body renovation to Concours standard, but un-quantified work is required to complete engine renovation.

The body has received a detailed renovation allegedly by a Porsche specialist, to include the engine compartment, new quality carpets are fitted with overlays and all bright-work has been re-chromed.  The soft top is described as 'original' and 'as new'.  It also comes with a hard top of average condition which has at some point been fitted with a black vinyl covering.  Unfortunately the boot lid has recently been stolen, so a purchaser will need to purchase a new boot lid and arrange paint/finishing.  There is a photographic record of the body renovation.

Various mechanical work has also been undertaken to include complete front and rear brake overhaul with pipes and master cylinder, stainless exhaust, tyres, refurbished alloy wheels, radiator.  However the engine does not run (reason unknown) and comes with a gasket set and a pair of new cylinder heads (stated purchase price 2,000) as well as a large collection of new and used spare parts and manuals.

No electronic pictures available, but photographic records of the body renovation are in the bundle of vehicle history and documentation being sold with the car.  It was in possession of the last owner for 19 years, the current owner bought this car very recently in the expectation of making a quick sale for a profit.  Check the registration document.

The seller is looking to achieve a target price 8,000 and needs a quick sale.  The car is in North London and due to the engine problem will need to be trailered.  Contact Robert MaCloughin on 0208 360 2171 or 07775 700 864.
